Two furnished 2-bedroom bungalows in central Hollywood, each with a fully fenced yard, for stays of a month or more. Pets are considered case by case, and dogs are regularly welcome.

What "pets considered" means

It means we say yes to most dogs and decide the rest case by case. When you send an inquiry, tell us what kind of animal you have, its size and age, whether it is house-trained, and how it does when it is left alone. We answer the same day. Pets are by prior agreement, so please ask before you book rather than after; a pet that was not mentioned is the one thing that reliably goes wrong. Whether there is an extra charge depends on the animal and the length of the stay, and we tell you in our reply, before you commit to anything.

The booking terms that touch pets are the usual ones: damage beyond normal wear is yours, and quiet hours are after 10 PM on weeknights and midnight on weekends.

The yards

Both homes are halves of a 1916 duplex, and each has a fenced yard of its own behind a ten-foot hedge along the street. The yards are separate from each other, so your dog shares its space with nobody.

Each home has a full kitchen, an in-unit washer and dryer, and central air, which matters more than you would think when you have a dog in a Los Angeles September.

Walks

De Longpre Park is directly across the street: 1.4 acres, renovated in 2020, with a lawn, a playground and a lot of shade. It is a leashed park, and it is where the neighborhood walks its dogs in the morning and the evening. Around it are blocks of houses from the 1910s and 1920s, flat and quiet, for an everyday loop.

Runyon Canyon, the hillside park where Hollywood exercises its dogs, is five minutes by car and has off-leash sections on its trails. Griffith Park is about ten minutes by car, with miles of trails. Pet-supply shops and veterinarians are a short drive away.

Who this suits

Most of our guests with dogs are in Los Angeles for a few months, for a production, a relocation or a contract, and want a private house with a yard rather than an apartment with a courtyard. Many come back, and returning guests get first call on dates.

Rates and booking

We host stays of 31 nights or more. Booked direct, either home is $4,530 a month, utilities and cleaning included, or $4,400 by bank transfer or cash, about 13% less than the same home on Airbnb. Both homes are also on Airbnb: De Longpre and Cherokee. We have been a Superhost every year since 2015.

Questions

Are dogs allowed?

Usually, yes. Pets are considered case by case, and dogs are regularly welcome. Tell us about your dog in the inquiry and we will answer the same day.

What about cats or other animals?

Ask. We decide case by case, and the answer depends on the animal and the length of the stay. We would rather hear about it up front than be surprised.

Is there a pet fee or deposit?

That depends on the animal and the stay, and we tell you before you commit to anything.

Is the yard fully fenced?

Yes. Both homes have fully fenced yards of their own, behind a ten-foot hedge along the street. The two yards are separate from each other.

Where can I walk my dog?

De Longpre Park is directly across the street, Runyon Canyon is five minutes by car, and Griffith Park is about ten minutes by car.

Can my dog stay home alone while I am out?

Tell us how your dog does on its own. The homes are quiet and separate, but they share a wall and have neighbors, so a dog that is calm alone is a better fit than one that is not.
