Two private furnished bungalows in central Hollywood, a walk or a short drive from Wild Card and the other gyms, for camps of four to eight weeks.

Why fighters stay here

A camp needs a quiet place to sleep, a kitchen to make weight in, a washer and dryer for the gear, and a gym close enough that the drive does not eat the day. Fighters and their teams have trained out of these homes before. Each home is half of a 1916 duplex, about 750 square feet, with two bedrooms, one bath, a full kitchen, an in-unit washer and dryer, central air, and a private fenced yard behind a ten-foot hedge. The street is residential, across from a park, and the homes are separate from each other, so a fighter can keep camp hours without anybody else's schedule in the way.

The gyms, and how far they are

Distances are from the front door at 6655 De Longpre Avenue, by road, and times are for ordinary traffic.

Roadwork

Runyon Canyon, where Hollywood runs its hills, is five minutes by car or about a mile and a half on foot, so the run there and up is a session by itself. The streets north of Franklin around the Hollywood Bowl are the other climb, about a mile and a half north. For an easy morning, the blocks around De Longpre Park are flat and quiet, and the park across the street is where people stretch, shadowbox and skip rope before the neighborhood is up.

The two homes

Both have a full kitchen with a dining area, an in-unit washer and dryer, central air and heat, fast Wi-Fi, a dedicated workspace and an Apple TV. Cleaning is included in the direct rate. Check-in is by keypad, with codes sent the day before. A camp that needs room for a trainer, a cornerman and a sparring partner can take both homes; they are two private units in one duplex, each with its own yard, and booking direct is how to hold both.

Rates and booking

We host stays of 31 nights or more. Booked direct, either home is $4,530 a month, utilities and cleaning included, or $4,400 by bank transfer or cash, about 13% less than the same home on Airbnb. We can sign the furnished-stay agreement with a promoter or a management company and invoice it. Both homes are also on Airbnb: De Longpre and Cherokee. We have been a Superhost every year since 2015, and the homes are consistently among the top-rated on Airbnb.

Questions

What is the minimum stay?

31 nights. Camps of four to eight weeks fit; after the first month, stays run month to month by written agreement. Tell us early if the fight date moves and you need to extend.

Can two fighters, or a fighter and a trainer, share a home?

Yes. Cherokee has two queen bedrooms with built-in closets. De Longpre has two queen bedrooms and a queen sleeper sofa in the living room, so three people can each have a bed, or a small team of up to six can share.

Where do people do roadwork?

Runyon Canyon, the hillside park with the climbs, is five minutes by car or a mile and a half on foot, so running there and up is a workout in itself. The streets north of Franklin around the Hollywood Bowl are the other hill route, about a mile and a half north. The blocks around De Longpre Park are flat and quiet for an easy morning, and the park across the street is where people stretch and skip rope.

Where do we buy food?

Trader Joe's on Vine Street is about a fifteen-minute walk, and the Hollywood Farmers Market, on Ivar and Selma every Sunday morning, is about the same. Each home has a full kitchen and a dining area, so a camp can cook every meal.

Is there parking?

A street parking permit comes with each home, and a spot in the shared gated driveway is $150 a month.

Are the two homes separate from each other?

Yes. They are the two halves of a 1916 duplex, each a private home with its own entrance, its own keypad and its own fenced yard. A camp can take one home or both.
